Hello dears...I took just a few pictures of some areas around the house.
No full rooms pics yet...sorry. Getting ready for the Holidays & the house is a mess.
Totally not photo ready!LOL
Where are the days going?? So busy...(deep sigh)
This is the TV cabinet...
Gotta love the candles...they have a remote!
This is the longest wall in the living room & has been decorated so many ways in the past 5 years...
I was never happy with it.
Then I saw some pics of random pictures all over a wall.
I wanted to do it with my favorite plates.
So I had to figure out how I was going to arrange them around the
other things I loved.
It took me the afternoon of arranging & rearranging everything on the floor first ...
but finally found an arrangement that I liked.
I THEN put the nails in the wall.
I like it. I think I'll keep it...
for awhile anyway. :)
Have a great week everyone!
Finding time to spend with our grown children is so hard, so when I decided to find a model to use for my shop pictures, our youngest daughter, Ariel seemed perfect!
No, she's never modeled before...and 1 rule she insisted on was not taking any pics above her chest....which I totally ignored! LOL
We had SO much fun! At times we were laughing so hard that I almost peed my pants.
Would we have made any money doing this professionally?
I'm sure not...but we did have a great time...and got some great pictures. :)
Oh..she's probably going to kill me if she finds out I've shown these...so lets keep this between us. :)
I'll leave you with some pics of our diningroom..
decked out for Autumn.
Have a wonderful day!
In July my Father in Law had a house fire that started in the basement... if my son
hadn't been visiting and heard the explosion, we would have lost
them both. I thank God for that.
It has taken us these past few months to get his house back in order.
Now that Dad is home with a freshly updated home & furnishings..I can once again
concentrate on my home, gardens & business.
All have been seriously neglected...the grasshoppers have eaten most of my plants...
my house needs a good scrubbing & the business needs some an overhaul....
But..today I take a breather & enjoy the Morning Glories.
This little darling decided to take over the chair on the back porch...
it was supposed to grow on the trellis behind the chair..
but I think it had other plans.
it's growing on the railing....
..decided to take over the garden, and planters & finally..
has covered an old iron headboard in the garden.
It sure is a beauty isn't it?
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
This is my heaven. The place I go to when I don't feel myself...when I need a bit of down time..
and where I climb every night with my sweet hubby.
Nothing fancy or expensive here. Just things that I've fallen in love with over the years.
Collected one at a time...near & dear to my heart.
The bed itself was purchased many moons ago for $125.00. I love the height of it..I feel like 'The Princess
& The Pea' every time I climb into it. I love the creaking sound it makes
every time hubby rolls over. It's comforting.
I have it piled with bedding new & old...lots of it. I feel safe & secure in it.
The needlepoint above the bed was purchased for $15.00 at an antique store. I felt so sad for it..
nobody wanted it & so it sat for a very long time. I gave it my heart & my home.
The table hubby made. Fits the lamp & remote perfectly.
Roses from our garden sit in an old vase I picked up for $1. It's chippy and very sweet.
The plates I've collected long before decorating with them was 'in'.
When first married I could pick them up for a quarter each. I'd hang them all over the house.
Easy, cheap & they look pretty.
My heart went 'pitter-patter' for the bench. It's wonderfully aged & perfect here.
The cedar chest under the window I built in high school, it holds our adult children's school projects & special Christmas ornies...the bowl on top is the first piece of
old ironstone I ever purchased.
My Dad built the dresser...after finding an expensive hand painted one
I painted my own. I love the way it turned out & will never repaint it.
The old dresser was bought for $35 & given a couple coats of 'Robin's Egg Blue'. My favorite color.
Hardware was changed out for some old glass handles I picked up at a flea market cheap.
The old gesso and wood mirror is the very first purchase I made on ebay years ago when they
Well, that's it...like I said.. nothing fancy but worth a whole lot to me & mine.
I hope you enjoyed the visit.
I'm linking up with these great gals this week.
For the past 4 years we've not had much action with the Hummingbirds.. despite all the yummy plants I had planted it seemed we were destined to be Hummingbirdless. Then about 2 springs ago..this little guy moved in...and since it seemed that he was all alone, we really enjoyed the time he spent visiting the living room's window box.
Occasionally this Summer, hubby would make the observation that our sweet guy seemed to be a bit smaller or looking a little paler then usual. I was really concerned that our little guy was getting sick & didn't have much time left with us.
And then it happened....the real reason for the changes in him.
It seems that our one little guy had suddenly turned into a little family man with a wife & 5 kids! This discovery was made yesterday while stepping outside to hang out clothes. It seemed I had interrupted their lunch time at the local saloon (our HUGE Trumpet vine).
I was so darn excited to see them! After hanging up the clothes, I sat ever so quietly on the swing & watched as our little guy coxed his family back to vine to continue what I had so rudely interrupted.
I have never seem little baby hummingbirds before and I just couldn't get enough of them.
The parents would make these sweet little chirping sounds to the babies...and like a little parade..they would follow them in a little line all around the vine. Each little one would put it's beak in the same flower Daddy did while Mommy sat on the clothes line observing. This continued for quite awhile till every flower had been touched at least twice by each bird.
Then, just as sweetly as they had arrived.. off they flew.. in that perfect little line out across the corn field till I could no longer see them.
I was so happy to announce to hubby that evening, that the reason why our little guy seemed to look so different, was because he WAS different!
From what I've learned about Hummingbirds, they will continue to bring their families to the same feeding spots and that their children will also bring their families!
So, it seems that our drought in hummingbirds has finally ended...and hopefully we will continue to see these darling birds multiply as the years go by.
Oh, just a side note...I do not have any feeders out for them. I did at one time, but it was never used. It seems that they would rather feed off all the flowers then a feeder.
Hope your enjoying the Summer.
Linking up this week with Miss Kim for TEXTURE TUESDAY.
With soaring temps this Summer, we are all looking for easy ways to cool down. Instead of running for the beach, lake or local swimming pool, lets stay inside & decorate 'cool' by using touches of blue.
Try the classic Blue & White by simply swapping pillow covers in fun checks & solids. How about some poke-a-dots instead of checks for a fun modern look.
Etsy is a great place for one of a kind pillow covers. (click the link for some covers)
This back-splash makes such a statement by being the biggest pattern in this kitchen.
Simple touches such as the tiles & rug make this kitchen not only cool, but also makes this all white kitchen seem cozier.
Don't have the money for custom tiles? Try tile decals...a simple and easy way to get that cool blue and white look without the cost. The best part....change your look whenever the decorating bug hits.
Paint is still an inexpensive way of updating any room. The room above feels like a beach with it's soft color.
Using loads of white keeps it simple and really opens up the room.
Love the colors above....I've matched them to Sherwin-Willams paint.
Paint numbers added for you.
Adding cupboards and chairs in blues cool's any room down all year round.
I love the painted metal chairs around the table above.
They don't have to be metal...paint some wooden folding chairs in your favorite blue
or add a blue painted bench on one side with a couple mismatched chairs on the other.
Painted the same blue, everything will look as if they should be together.
Like a bold fun look..try a different blue on each chair!

Do you have some favorite blue and white ideas? I'd love to hear them.
Thanks for visiting!
sorry for not adding sources to these wonderful photos but they have been stored in my 'Fav file'. If they belong to you, please let me know and I'll gladly add any links. :)
